Yes, it does sort of make sense but I think it may be unrelated. I would need to look at what you mean by start-up address. Software installation likes to put extra bells and whistles on your desktop or even your browser. Even ISP tend to update their software obnixously.
To be safe, change your password. Note the windows that are popping up. Note which website, you went to and when you were directed to another site.
Also, look at the settings for AIM as well. Make sure that you have your settings correct. If you don't know, get a techie (it could be me or someone else) look at it and be very specific in what your needs are.
