Hi Christine, it is very easy to break into your email account if it is web based and if you do not take certain precautions.
If it is a web-based account be sure to use the secure login that many of the providers offer these days else you uid and pwd can be grabbed as you enter them.
Hotmail is terrible and notorious for having leaks in its security. Dont use hotmail for anything important.
If you share your computer do not allow any kind of automatic login to your account. This can usually be controlled in preferences or options.
