Hi Philanty,
I read this book not that long ago. Found it very interesting, and like you say it does seem to be pretty much like Reiki. He really does believe in the intent in energy work, both from the practitioner and the receiver.
With it being a positive, healing energy, and so similar to Reiki, it makes me think that this is another argument for realizing that all energy leads to the source. No matter what name we give our favorite 'brand' of healing, it is all one and the same.
Would one of the contentious points be the fees charged? On one hand he says it should be freely shared, yet on the other hand he has ended up in training others to pass on the energy for a fee. I guess it's a fine line....if one wants to make a living in energy work there has to be an income supplied.
All in all it was an enjoyable read, and there is some aspects of it that I have carried on into my daily life with Reiki.
Did you by any chance check out his website?
With light and love,
Featherpoint
