I love to learn by reading and I have a bookcase full of 'spiritual books' that I have gathered up or been given over the years. Some good, some not so good. But I didn't realise until recently that the messages we sometimes seek (where ever we are on our journey)can be found in books that don't profess to teach us anything! Heres a couple of examples;
From the sublime: Steinbecks- Grapes of Wrath- What Reverend Casy says about our souls being attached to a universal energy.
To the ridiculous:Hello Magazine (or any trashy alternative) shows us the misery of greed and dishonesty and reminds me of the importance of our reiki principals/precepts.
Hopefully you're well on the way to this kind of learning now you've moved on from the more simplistic stuff.
