I think you answered your own questions. Silver coins represent religious issues and distance and you aked him why he would join this cult or mind programming and control by some teachings and he turned his back on you due to that and not to take it personally. The Silver coins could represent programming which show up embedded in his back. He probably can't see or feel them? But you can see it.
