Dear Sir or Madame,

After reading Leon Jaroff's piece titled "Brits
Endorse Flakey Reiki," I have to ask why he did not
examine the scientific studies of reiki and other
energy-healing methods. Really, ignoring evidence is
a most unscientific way to proceed. Before Mr. Jaroff
writes again on this topic, he might wish to educate
himself by looking at the studies. He can begin with
the sources mentioned in the following URLs, from a
website that collects information on energy healing.
This one deals with scientific detection of healers'
energies, and results of a few studies:

And this one presents a chart summarizing clinical
and laboratory studies, noting both "positive" and
"negative" results, as well as concerns about some
studies' designs:

If Mr. Jaroff were to examine such sources, then he
would at least have some basis for giving an opinion.

Sincerely,
Bruce Ching
