Rob,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- apart from reading, I also have watched a couple of programmes on our so-called educational networks where folks like Stephen Hawking and other illuminati of that ilk have debated String Theory, discussed the chances for a unified theory of relativity, etc, etc.
- some of these shows strike me as rather "orchestrated" as when two people, supposedly on opposite sides of an issue, go on the 'debate circuit", book various halls, and charge big bucks admission for people to hear them "debate" hot issues
- then one listens to interviews with these characters and come away wondering about the veracity of the debate
- anyhow, when someone says there is a mathematical formula to "explain" the universe I get pretty leary - remember, mathematics is a closed system of "logic" that we have developed over the years and may reflect our observations about the universe - but explain it??
- so, to say that some invented formula that may describe or seems to predict what has been occurring naturally for billions of years already is explaining anything seems illogical (and rather arrogant) to me
