I do not a priori jump on the bandwagon that simply because a Reiki practitioner 'channels' a symbol' that it is meant for Reiki.

I also accept the proposition that such 'channelings" may well be intances involving cryptamnesia since the 'information' or material channeled has already long been known. A little deviation in form stylization, to me, does not constitute 'something new'.

Do I accept the notion of 'psychic piracy'? Definitely.
