>Basically just using your own intuition. We all channel whether we realize it or not. I was doing some long distance reiki on a friend and got alot of messages from her without asking her. I asked her about them and she was amazed over it. I got a message that her low back was hurting and something with her heart. She told me that she has been having back spasms and she's been going to a dr. for a heart fluttering problem.
Yes my intuition sometimes "kicks in" during reiki and other energy work. Some examples from distance work on my father a few years ago: I saw his liver getting darker; it was later found that his stent was obstructed so bile was backing up and a liver infection resulted. Later I saw that his kidneys and liver really needed energy; it turned out that some of his pancreatic cancer cells had migrated to just outside those organs. On the other hand, sometime later his CT scans showed "tiny spots" of metastasis on his liver, and I hadn't noticed them while working on Dad. Later still I saw some sort of blockage in his left kidney; sometime after that, his doctors found the same thing. For distance work, intuitive flashes are most likely to come to me when I visualize working on the recipient as if he/she is right there in front of me.
But the term "channeling" often refers to having some sort of disembodied entity enter your body. That usage of the term seems to have been understood by some of the previous responses to your inquiry. (Good question for clarification, Firekeeper; you beat me to it.) I'm squeamish about such things due to autonomy issues. (That's just my immediate psychological reaction.)
Dolphin01 -- since you brought up the topic, could you say more about what you were taught in your reiki class about using your intuition?
