Plenty to worry about in this age of litigation and constant societal messages that we should be seeking sex constantly! and certainly not healing!
I find that a door being open, inviting the person to bring their friends and family to watch or hang out, and just being respectful are quite helpful.
Another key to setting the right atmosphere is to interview the person, sitting up, across from you, before you start the session. Asking them about their needs, their religious beleifs (i am careful not to step on toes when doing attunements so always ask what divine help they wish present) and frankly, if it is a man I do not know, i prefer to have my hubby home. it just sends the right message.
One thing i suggest to male students is to have a tape recorder on during the session. it should be good proof nothing went on should there be a question.
Another way to avoid problems is to have 2 healers work together. or have prospective clients come to a reiki share first. Set the tone and be professional...
If a person does come on to you, gently end contact and walk away, whatever it takes.
The rule for where not to lay hands is-nothing in the bathing suit area. I like the suggestion to have a woman's hands crossed over where you will be laying hands-this is what my chiropractor does.

>You know, sometimes I'm a little bit jealous of female Reiki practitioners. It seems like they would have it a lot easier, but I'm sure I'm only seeing this from one side.

>How can a male make a female feel safe? How do males approach the whole discussion about where touching is appropriate? Obviously, I'm not going to do hands-on healing for the heart chakra, but does it still make women uncomfortable to have a man's hands four to six inches above their breasts? What kind of explanation would I need to give? What other possible precautions can I take that I don't know about yet?

>I'm really interested in hearing what people have to say here, both men and women. And it would be great to hear what women sometimes have to worry about when they're giving a session, too!! :)
