I have enjoyed reading the posts about reiki and children. Some of those who have joined since my long hiatus probably haven't heard about my kids.
Our entire family is attuned to at least Reiki I (including the cat). Jennifer is 9 and was attuned to Reiki II last spring. Andrew asked for and received his Reiki I attunement last summer. However, he is a natural healer who really didn't need the attunement to begin healing. I let him wait until he was ready. He's 6.
In response to the comment about not believing in "indigo children"...regardless of your belief, it is difficult to deny the great many children who are coming into this world at this time who are so filled with compassion and healing energy. Perhaps it is a result of improved parenting, but I tend toward the thinking that they're coming to change things. My kids are so much more empathic than I remember being (and I'm a natural-born empath!). Their thinking processes are advanced for their age and they're already busy thinking up creative ways to change the "establishment". Now before you go thinking that I'm just a proud mommy (of course I am!), I'm noticing these characteristics in a lot of children.
The only thing else I would say is that kids may or may not be able to sit through an entire class. With kids, I attune first, train over time. If you can't make the commitment to train them at their pace, then I wouldn't bother with the attunement.
