Karma of past lives is stored in & can often be seen in the throat chakra. Its very much like a poison. Karma yoga is very good and there are some vedic chants that will help to break it up. A very simple karma yoga sadhana to do is to find someone else who is suffering from some throat disorder and pray for them or help others with a similar problem such as graves disease. Throat and skin diseases often relate very much to karma.
Doing free healings for others with reiki can help you dispurse this karma as well as can various spiritual practices and vedic chants.
If it is indeed karmic realting to destiny or an agreement, reiki does not seem to have that much long term effect any more than it overides gravity.
