I went for Reiki I&II level attunements last weekend. The classes was fun though i knew not what to expect. It seemed in class like i was getting 'somewhere' and i believed in Reiki and all that went with it. However, it is now that i am begining to have serious doubts that it works at all. The few people i've tried it on since have felt nothing while i gave it to them. So now i've begun to have my doubts about the healing powers of Reiki. I have my theory here that i would like feedback on and share with you. I can only hope that it is proven wrong as i really do want to experience that Reiki truely works so i am able to help heal others.
It seems to me that Reiki involves little more than transfer of heat energy from the hands onto the other persons body. This thought makes me seriously doubt the effectiveness or 'realness' of Reiki. I feel that there is some self delusional hypnosis at work when a Reiki session is performed. We give ourself auto suggestion that energy or something is getting transferred from our hands onto others. We think "OH yes, heat/energy is coming off my hands. It is indeed working!!!" But what seems to be working here is ONLY OUR IMAGINATION. Infact, the greater the imagination one has and uses, the better the Reiki energy seems to flow from our hands. If we don't use our imagination or auto suggest ourselves, then nothing seems to happen. Why is this so or rather IS IT SO????
Another thing which bothers me is that if the energy of Reiki is Universal then WHY cannot one tap this healing energy from The Great Source on one's own???
Why is attunement from a teacher/Master needed after all?
I hope to shed all my doubts and know the Truth about Reiki with all your help. I would like to hear your input and comments.
