I always ask people instead of giving soloutions... if a person has not seen the light yet, you can via questions guide her/him in the "right" direction... We all have different limits and different experiences in our bag, and I am trying always to be careful not judge the person, and not making him/her going someplace they are not ready for.
It can be difficult just to watch, when you think you have the great answer,.... just that it won´t work if the person is not ready, not open yet for the idea !
Maybe it could help not go all the way to the your conclusion, but make middle steps on the way like:
1. I hear you complain a lot about your work, it sounds as you it is bothering you a lot... would you like me, just to listen, or to come with advices ?
2. Asking for miracles can sound a bit overwhelming, why not ask just for the situation work out better ? (and first ask her, if she is ok with you asking)
3. Ask her if she would like to try something... write down on a paper all the bad stuff about her work, then help her to turn it into positive phrases - write what she wants the situation to be like instead ? What could "heal"/make the situation positive.... Then burn the paper with the negative phrases and ask her to focus on the positive ones... ( It makes a world of difference )

This was just a few suggestions and my point of wiew, dont know if you can use it for anything, but I think, wether i has to do with clients or students, you always have to respect their point of view, their feelings, and their path....
