All this talk about organizing and regulating Reiki reminds me of the time when Constantine, during 4th century Rome, created the Council of Nicean for the purpose of collecting all ancient scriptures on Christianity and to put it all in one book (the Bible). Constantine felt that Rome needed a religion and he felt that Christianity was going to be the mainstream religion for Rome. Most of the information that was gathered came from a Jewish sect called the Essenes who existed before, during, and after the time of Jesus Christ. Unfortunetly, the scriptures that were placed in the Bible were edited severly due to streamlining, political pressures, and misunderstandings of the scriptures. The Christian priests at that time probably felt that if they didn't do what Constatine said they would have to go underground to practice Christianity.
Jesus followed closely what the Essenes believed, according to the Essene accounts of Jesus Christ's life. This included the belief in reincarnation and the practice of vegeterianism. In the Bible, all this was edited out. When this occurred, the focus of the scriptures of the Essenes, and Christ, were lost.
The same fate might happen to Reiki if, in trying to organize and regulate Reiki, we lose focus on the real reason Reiki is here for. Reiki is here to help and enlighten all who seek it. If we are forced to organize and/or regulate Reiki let us not forget what its true purpose is or suffer the fate of Christianity.
