Greetings to all... after reading all the very interesting posts I cannot help but add my two bits... When I was explained Reiki, many years ago, I was told that Reiki is re-awakened in us. Reiki if flowing all over and when we are born perfect we are Reiki and don't really need the attunement. The 'programming' (with or without their consent?), the way of living, the loss of contact with nature, the concrete under our feet and around us, in one word civilisation, make most of us close down, hence the need we express at a point of our life to be re-awakened to this wonderful energy. All living things, humans, animals, plants can accept or refuse this energy. (I even believe my very very old car is running mostly on Reiki!!!) I am not sure it is necessary to torture ourselves with questions of right or wrong. What we each do at that specific time, under those specific circumstances is right if we do it with Love and Compassion.
My heart goes to all of you because through this discussion I feel I have many friends and it makes me feel rich.
