Interesting how this thread has developed. When I read the first one from Lilac I thought the word "wish" was used as synonymous to "affirmation". That's what I was taught, "Reiki your affirmations to enhance the purpose with them". We were also told by our RM to be verrry careful about what we wish for (nothing to do with Reiki actually), because we would get it, however maybe not in the form we thought. Eg, what's the use of wishing to get loads of money and the outcome is we find a bag containing lots of it only to find out they came from a bank robbery and we can't keep it? But our wish came true in a sense.
But the thread turned into something else. Really strange I think. Not wishing a treatment for some illness because it would mean someone else would not get just that specific treatment? Not wishing for a parking space because someone else would not get it? Finding the last package of something in the store and not take it because someone else wouldn't get it then? Not wishing peace because someone else doesn't want it (that must be the weapon industry)? Sounds like plain rubbish to me and has nothing at all to do with Reiki. There must be limits as to how far you should obliterate yourself in favour of others, unknown to you! A sort of reversed 'victimised' selfishness.
Which lead me to the Path of Enlightenment. The more I get into this the more dubious I feel about it. The system is based on the concept that someone else would care for your daily bread. The most 'enlightened' (monks for example) does not earn their own living - or pay taxes, they depend on others. Do they deserve our gifts more than an 'ordinary' street beggar? Should we provide for them because their 'cause' is nobler? Their cause being "care about yourself, not others".
No, I don't like it. I will stop halfway on this path. No more "enlightenment road" for me. Life is for the living, I intend to live it the best I can, in peace with the fellow man. Reiki is good for me and if it benefits those I treat, fine. I don't like it when Reiki is misused for peoples' own murky business.
Or have I misunderstood you completely, mr Dave? Were you speaking out of irony? - That would make sense.
