So we have two different situations it seems. I think that Ladycyan is saying what I believe too, responsibilty and honesty is key. But I too was taught 'hands on, reiki on', so there is a problem here.

I would resolve it for myself with the difference between deliberately blending a reiki session with some other form of treatment... not acceptable, without permission and explanation.

And reiki simply being around due to my attunement... acceptable, although having the intention of not using reiki is more acceptable.

I am not a massage therapist, I am reiki 2, so when I give my wife a relaxing 'amateur' massage I typically don't even think of reiki being involved... so maybe it isn't if intention really is the key. Sorry if I am rambling.

I remember reading that due to the danger of being accused of performing unlicensed massage we, as reiki practitioners, should be aware not to move our hands across someone in any way that could be construed as 'massage'. Should we not expect the same care from the massage or similar field?
