My suggestions:
Reiki, if nothing else, is a great way to provide relaxation & if that is all that appears to happen, that is a blessing for the anxiety prone! I stress "appears" because healing begins as an internal process & therefore we dont always get to see the results.
Ask your client what music promotes relaxation and what room temp is best for them, do they want a sheet or blanket, pillow, etc. Making them physically comfortable & providing a relaxing environment helps. If they do not have allergies or asthma, you might try a high grade essential oil of lavender simmered in the room before the client arrives. Having the room or area bathed in relaxation mode tailored to the individual will assist your client in relaxing. The practitioner should also be in a calm state themselves & if you are having a bad hair day this might be the day to reschedule if you do not have the time to prepare yourself ahead of the appointment.
Full body treatment helps to maintain balance & is appropriate for any issue. We will be drawn to those areas that need extra attention. I favor the individual approach rather than the formula approach to symbols & positions ( the client & practitioner working together are a team and create a unique connection)..listen & feel during Reiki and let that be your guide. It helps to understand what triggers anxiety in your client so you can avoid those behaviors or circumstances. What seems so normal & innocent to us can be quite alarming to another.( A person who is afraid of dogs might not want to gaze at that lovely picture of your giant Great Dane!)A general question such as " Is there anything that you would like to share that might make this a better experience for you, for example I have had clients that did not want to listen to music or to talk during Reiki".
