Sounds like a case of anxiety to me. I really like the suggestion of writing the fears down, and dismissing them. I have found that just writing them down can help a lot.
Anxiety is an old *ahem* friend to me. And yes, it's true, it can be a great blocker. As for getting to the root? You know, I know where it comes from in me, but that didn't help that much. I found something called "cognitive therapy" to be a lot more useful.
