Hmmm, there's something to that "tutoring" idea. If I think about it, maybe there's a pattern in that something's affecting me, like a cold or a headache, that makes it difficult for me to be mindful and notice that perhaps the client needs some verbal coaching as well as the hands-on.
I've also speculated that sometimes, if I feel that all the healing is going to the aura, why not just shift gears and do the session mostly hands-off.
Either way, if I'm missing something with these folks, it could well be just mindfulness. Or simply giving them cues for understanding when and how they've received benefit from the Reiki.
Happens rarely but always intrigues me when it does.
And as you say, we simply pass on the energy, "and little else". So I let them go, until the next time.
I imagine Mrs. Takata telling me to just "do Reiki!".
