I've been doing this for 6 years, and don't consistently "see" much of anything as if my eyes are taking in the vision. Mostly I find that heart-sense transmits directly to the hands. This is good for me, because "seeing auras" would tempt me to think it's my brain receiving the information through the eyes and then knowing how to proceed. It has been good for me to learn to rely on the heart center sensing where to direct the hands and breath and eyes. The brain then simply witnesses and records -- a clerical function that it excels at.
That being said, once or twice I've had startling and clear visual seeing of what could only be aura manifestation, similar to what was said about seeing the red around the nose, a flash of colored light showing the origin of an issue in the person's body. Quite attention-getting and fascinating.
I think it would be pretty demanding, to see auras all the time. Also, there's a permission consideration -- best not to view a person's aura unless they are aware and willing for you to do so. It's a little disconcerting to have people around you have deep intuitions about you, without your knowledge or permission.
So, whatever intuitive senses I have going, I try to keep them hooded when out in public, so as to respect others' privacy.
Hope that helps!
