Hi, namaste ... I was taught to remove watches before giving Reiki. I think there are two aspects to this - one, as Firekeeper says, is to avoid poking the patient with anything on us as we work, and the second, I think, is that the Reiki energy can be pretty powerful and may affect the watches.
My mother always had problems with watches, her energies often sent them haywire, whereas when any of the rest of the family wore them, they were fine.
I do not want to be responsible for somebody`s watch going haywire, and therefore, I take mine off, and ask the patient to remove theirs. Also any jewellery which might snag when doing a complete Reiki session, e.g. complicated necklaces, or long earrings.
