First thought huge ego and secondly discomfort that any *living* person would feel the right to claim anything Reiki (symbols, meaning etc) over someone else.
To me, to stake a claim over anything reiki related is like trying to claim daylight in your house as your own and sealing your windows and doors to keep it in. Then selling jars of it to passers by - "higher quality daylight here!"
