As a matter of faith (and practicality), our family has chosen not to purchase health insurance. Truly, it is "sickness insurance". In the event of and auto accident, our auto insurance (required by law in most U.S. states) would pay for our medical expenses. In the event of emergency care (i.e. broken limb, burns, etc.), we have money saved to pay for such events. Partial or total disability would be paid by the "long term disability" portion of our life insurance.

As for "health insurance"...there isn't a dis-ease known to exist that I would consent to being treated with conventional care. Any care I would seek wouldn't be covered by health insurance anyway, so what's the point? Cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc....I'd consult my naturopath, chiropractor and myself. I've helped enough people self-treat for serious conditions that I wouldn't hesitate to self-treat for anything.

To that end, I am careful to provide my body with the nutrients and exercise it needs to stay healthy. I can't predict the future, but I can maximize my chances for a long and healthy future. After all, I'm going to live to be over 100 years old...and stay healthy all the while! :-)

...just my 2 cents
