How thoughful of your Dad to send you this gift. Yes I do believe that animals can be sent as guides. I have a cat who I believe is one.
We found the tiniest kitten in the back yard, We fed him kitten formula from a doll bottle.
Three days later, I had my attunemnts for Reiki II, and I so wanted to "see or experience something" during them. But all I could think about was this kitten. (at the time we did not plan to keep him). I had just read about spirit guides and campanions, and it hit me,that he was sent to be mine. I came home from class and told my husband that we had to keep him,and told the kitten that he had to use the litter box (which he does, I've had problems with previous cats). He liked to sleep in the palm of my hand until he got too big. He is the most loving cat I've ever had, and it seems anytime I'm reading about Reiki, or on this chat site, he's in my lap. He is white with a black mark down his back that looks like the Raku symbol. Recently, I found out that I have a thyroid problem, and now he's putting his paws up around my neck when he's in my lap. So I can't help but wonder "is he giving Me Reiki"?
Coincidence, I don't think so. Same with your dog, I think you should Thank your Dad and the Heavens for this incredible companion.
