Sherlock Holmes is pacing up and down in his study at 221B Baker Street.
"You seem restless, Holmes" says Watson, looking up from his newspaper, "what ails you?"
"Boredom." Holmes replies," Sheer boredom"
"Well, why not help me with this crossword." the good doctor suggests, "It might help pass the time. There are a few clues I'm stuck on, I dare say you'll find them all too easy, though; or as you would probably say 'E...."
"- Oh, very well, Watson," Holmes gestures impatiently with his hand, "begin"
Watson starts to read the clues:
“A school, Infant-level education, particularly in America?"
“Its ‘Elementary’, my dear Watson.”
“A canal, a passage through the body starting at the mouth?"
"Its ‘Alimentary’, my dear Watson."
“The 12th and 13th letters of the alphabet written in a diary?
“Its ‘L, M, entry’, my dear Watson.”
"In French, ‘the fib’, untruth, story, etc ?"
"Ah! ‘la Menterie’, my dear Watson"
"Arborial Citrus, bearing pale-yellow fruit?"
"Its ‘A Lemon Tree’, my dear Watson.”
"An audible expression of grief concerning sleuth's trusted medical confidant?"
"Its ‘A lament re: my dear Watson’, my dear Watson…"
