I have been on retreat and highly recommend it. The place I went to was not run by monks but offered silent retreats with a regular schedule of meditation (sitting and walking),work, dharma talks. I looked at your profile and see you are from NC. Google Southern Dharma. They are also in NC and have a good selection and reasonable prices.
