Vocalist needed... Any of you sing?

I have a bunch of material that I've written, but my voice is horrible. I'd love for somebody with better chops to take a cut. I'm looking to jam, and maybe record some demos in my home studio if the jamming works out well. Heck, I've got two albums recorded on the studio, but my voice is off-key throughout both albums! Help! (I'm also anxious to hear how somebody else interprets my songs... so feel free to take them in new directions!)

I'm a pianist/guitarist... I write songs ranging from Billy Joel-type ballads to crunchier rock songs (I'd say Springsteen-esque, but I don't deserve that comparison). Either male or female vocalist is fine.

[also replied below to your response to my post, it has been taking me too ridiculously longer to send e-mail than to get it - will fix thatASAP, for now I am replying to yours here]

I am not a professional or semi-professional vocalist and never was, have taken some voice lessons some time ago, have been told by different people that I have a nice voice, you can be the judge of that

I have some lyrics+words books to practice or figure out sound of player/s+singer with known stuff first, I can sing other stuff too but only have books of: The Doors, Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Janis Joplin
[I know Billy Joel's stuff, not Bruce Springsteen though, I know, how un-Jersey of me!]

I have a decent ear but don't read music any more [I had played a few instruments one after the other when I was a kid but I didn't practice enough...]

I have been writing both rhyming and nonrhyming poetry on and off since I was 8, and can pretty easily rewrite words of known songs too [=same melody, different words], but don't write lyrics at all

I have a friend (in Hoboken) who has a voice like an angel. When she turns it on she sounds real grungy like Ethridge, but can sing anything really. She's really friendly too. Lots of fun.

I can belt a tune out or two.

Hello!

Sorry for the delayed response, but I'm new to this site. If you're still looking for a singer, I am in search of a songwriter. I've done a lot of professional singing in the past, and I have recently pledged to get back into the arts. Currently, I am pursuing a stage career, but I am also very eager to record a demo of original songs. As I don't write music, I would like to connect with a songwriter-- maybe you! :)

Please let me know if you're still looking. Thanks!

Yes, I'm still looking! I couldn't find your email address; you may not have listed one. Go ahead an email me at pbeaupre@weberassoc.com and we'll trade chat about it!
