New Yorkers Against Violence

I just came back from the benift concert in Hammerstein Ballroom. Oh my God! I'm gonna have a sore throat for a week! The Beasties were teriffic, though we had to wait 4 hours to see them, for they were the final act. It lagged a bit in the middle when they brought on this Pakastani group whose set was interminable, and the Blues Explosion who were all coked up and went way over their alotted time. Oh for the days of Vaudeville, when they would remove acts like that with a big hook!
The BEST was when Bono, Moby, and Michael Stipe made a suprise appearance and sang some Bob Dylan songs! I got to see Bono 2 nights in a row!! Whoo hoo! And this time I was all of ten feet away from him! Ten frigging feet! Sorry you missed it, Matt and Kari.
The place exploded when the Beasties finally took the stage! Jumping around in the pit brought back my misspent youth. (nothing having to do with chocolate, Canadian lunatics, schiophrenic dwarfs, jealous and drunken Scotsmen and what they tattoo under their kilts, chickens, Ozzy Obborne, sorcerers, bannisters, Aussies, or Easter Bunny costumes, for those of you who know those stories, and think that's what I mean)The energy was infectious and we all went crazy. The Beasies were just fantastic live. Jesus Christ, I'm gonna be half dead tomorrow, but it was WORTH IT!
