My friends and I have a theory about hoboken dating. We wonder why, in a town full of thousands of young single people, there are still so many single people still alone.
Here's what we came up with. Hoboken is full of first and second dates and that it. People keep moving on because they think they could do just a little bit better than you, so they move on. Very few committment oriented people in this town it seems. Does anyone agree?

Maybe there are commited people but they have not found the right person to commit to. Of course, if they don't want to take the time to develop the relationship to something better, then they are just short sighted.
Of course, this theory could be a result of this instant gratification society we are developing. We are so use to instant messages, instant food or fast food, same day service (photos, laundry), instant quotes for mortgages, etc., that maybe we can work less to get more because someone thinks they can do better.
Don't know. I think I am agreeing with you. I guess I am adding more fuel to your case. :)

Perhaps Hobokenites refrain from dating each other because the city is so small and it's too easy to run into an ex or to get sick of the sight of your current significant other. (That could be a big problem for those who enjoy cheating.) On the other hand, this situation may have developed out of the fact that most Hobokenites would rather spend time with their cell phones than an actual human being.

My theory - If you were to take a poll of the singles in Hoboken I bet you 90% don't understand who they are, what they want to be when they actually do grow up or what they want out of life and that they are afraid to take risks.

Hi all, I've ben in the caves with Geraldo hunting the Taliban...
DATING SUX!
I've been binging recently and am still on one... I finally found a computer to say hi to you all b/c I cancelled AOL and cant find a free service...
anyway...
yah
Here's Jeni's theroy b/c thats really all that matters!
We all date b/c we are so goddam self absorbed that we cannot think of pleasing anyone but ourselvs. God forbid we accually have to think of someone else! We get dressed all pretty every day (girls) so we can go out at night and drink on whatever sucker thinks will take us home. We (I) have fun breaking hearts and making friends with bartenders so I can show up at the bar that they work at after another night worth a movie deal and dish... I go out by myself all the time b/c I just don't want to be responsible for anyone else and I don't want a "friend" to stop me if I decide to have another 1 night stand.
Eventually I'll start settelling down, but, untill then... everyone... we live in Hoboken... did ANYONE honestly think that they would meet their signifigant others here? If you did, you were misslead by the brochure and should sue for false advertizing. Fuck... I can't walk down Washington St. w/o seeing at least 1 person I've fucked and I'm damn proud of it!
Love you all... time to rant more!

HobokenJeni--Sounds like Hoboken will have to maintain steady population growth for you to find new guys to have one-night stands with. :)

Oh my goodness. Jeni, Can you believe that one? As they say "Burn!"
I think the hoboken population is revolving enough for Jeni.
She's doing all right.
