Hi,
I've had mice festering for the last 2 months under and behind one of my baseboard radiators. No amount of poison seems to kill these F-ers. Anyone experience this and successfully solve the problem. Please shaare your ideas/solutions.
Thanks.

I had this problem. It was very disturbing to say the least. I tried poison, no good. I tried that sticky paper, no good.
Finally I put small mouse traps out with peanut butter instead of cheese. Got em! One the first night, one the next night. I haven't seen anymore since then.
I bought the traps at the hardware store on Washington Street, between 3rd and 4th.
Good luck!

I could have sworn I had this problem and I posted what I did. Someone else had the same problem and asked for help.
Anyway, I used the large glue traps using chocolate in the center to catch the f**kers. I spent like 17 glue traps and caught 8 (including the mother or at least a large mouse which I assumed was the mother). I had no rats since. Remove random trash or useful junk on the floor. Section off the area and lay traps like a moat protects a castle (wall to wall.) Give them food in the traps.

Suggestion: What about live traps? That way once they are gone they are gone for good. These mice in Hoboken must have superman power's. I bought some poison pellets (devcon?). In Jersey City where I use to live. They or it ate four boxes of pellets, but after that they where dead in the walls. I'm not an expert at this, just thought I would share my experience.
Good Luck!

Mouse traps are unbelieveably cruel. Get live traps and let them go outside.

if you're gonna kill the mice, you probably want to know where they are so you can dispose of them... unless you like the smell! This happened once at my office-- we think they died behind the refigerator or sink but we never found them and the stench was unbearable.

The problem is they are under a baseboard radiator that runs the length of the bedroom wall. I'm SO not interested
in luring them into the bedroom itself which is why I'm nixing traps. There seems to be a steady trickle with brief periods of inactivity. My neighbor who claims to have "no" mice managed to trap five as an "experiment"

Well, then. Be sure no to leave food around the house. Don't leave anything on the floor and if you do, contain it in hard plastic bins with covers. Take your garbage out every night, too.

Can you borrow a neighbor's cat? It worked for me.
For the cats, it was like a trip to an amusement park or something. They explored for an hour.
After that I never saw a mouse again.
BTW, if it's any consolation, the IMAX on the UWS has a mouse problem too.

o for f*ck's sake, there is no food or trash in my bedroom. (Well, trash I guess would depend on who I'm dating at the time, but I digress...) I'm just frustrated with my neighbors who claim to not have mice and one of them just happened to find 5, but he doesn't really have mice and there are none in the building. Allegedly only exterminators can sell the one dose poison [i hear it's not legally sold otc in hardware stores] but people don't want to pay for a thorough extermination of the apt. building and my own efforts to control it don't meet with great effect if I'm working alone.
Lawndart, believe me, I think about that option but now I'm concerned for the kitty involved since there has been poison put under the radiators and I don't want the cat to get sick.

Sorry Windy, I did not mean to offend you nor meant to critique your trash or garbage habits. I was only talking from personal experience when I had to get rid of mice. I guess I did not know the entire situation.
If you find evidence of mice poo you can call the building inspector to report your landlord for not taking you seriously. But if you did that, you could potentially lose a reference when you rent out another place in Hoboken.
Your other option is to move and make it someone else problem. But I figure you already thought of that option. My apologizes again.

Gm, I wasn't mad at you I'm just frustrated.
I don't think mice warrant selling the place.
For those of you who have had success with poison, how long does it take to work. My place was baited wed. night, I heard them munching, and I'm still hearing critters. Timeline anyone?
