Jerry, who has helped many people with computer help desk questions has offered to extend his expertise to those who need it. He also suggested the idea of having a board where people could ask for help for whatever reason and whomever has the knowledge can volunteer an answer.
So here it is.

<sniff>, my very own board. It brings a tear to my eye. I will treasure it forever.

Hi Jerry!
What a great idea this is. Well I need Computer HELP! I own a HP Pavillion 8655C. My problem with this system is that it constantly freezes. I cannot get it to work until I literally unplug it and restart it over again. Control, Alt, Delete absolutely doesn't work. I've asked HP for help and they keep sending me the same stuff that isn't working. The problem occurs when I'm on the internet.
HELP!
Thanks!
Naomi

k, I need a couple of questions answered before I can help you fix this.
1. Do you have call waiting?
2. Is there a pattern to this freezing (like it only happens when I copy and paste a web page to word)
3. What operating system (Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, XP)?
4. What does HP keep on sending you?
5. When did it start happening (it happen all of the time when I was on the internet, it occured after I installed a new program, it occured after an electrical storm)?
Here are the possibilities
1. Call waiting causes the computer to freeze. There is a way to disable call waiting while you are on the computer, but I heard it does not work sometimes. I normally have the call forwarded to voicemail so I can avoid such pains, but to each is own.
2. Patterns are helpful in identifying the problem so we can localize the solution. 3. Old operating systems will be problematic b/c support has been disabled but we will see what we can do.
4. I don't want to repeat HP processes. However, it never does hurt to double check.
5. Sometimes after an installation, software does not play nice with other software.
So answer the questions so I can help you. Ok?
