You can see the pictures for yourself.
The main tower will be 1,776 feet high and will be one of if not the most tallest building in the world. They chose 1776 for the year of our independence and it will be modeled after the statue of liberty. It will be called tower freedom and might possibly be started next summer.
So what does everyone have to say on this? You like the design, don't like, don't think they should build something that big, agree with it.

I'm indirectly related to this project. It's called the Freedom Tower. The design is basically the dame that's been around for months - just massaged. The groundbreaking wil coincide with the Republican Convention. The tower should be constructed by 2009. And at 1,776 will be the tallest structure at this point in time.

Many originally found the WTC hideous. Whatever it is, it will grow on you.
The design really should be that of a gigantic middle finger. A fuck you to anyone who hates us.

70 floors - the rest is just a cage in the sky atop the building, which is framework for the iconic tower atop the structure.

More renderings from the architects who are designing it. It's been voted on people and this is the new building - like it or not...that's what you'll be seeing come 2009.

great architect....hes former work, especially the berlin jewish museum is amazing, however i feel sorry that he has to deal with people like this (as the winner of the competition, he should have full control over the project) and not to compremise with those greedy bastards and this untalented fuck wannabe architect....there is enough ugly buildings in nyc as it is, let him do something cool

The lattice is stupid. This is a building not
a garden accesory. I want a pround center
for commerce returned to the city not this foofy
thing.

I finally realized what I didn’t like about the new design: its overwrought symbolism.
We have the asymmetrical spire (think Statue of Liberty), the windmills (think reduced dependence on mideast oil), 1776 feet tall, etc.
Reminds me of the scene in Austin Powers when Mike Meyers starts rattling off all these related puns, forcing out more and more, until Liz Hurley finally rolls her eyes and says “Enough, Austin.”
If I had my way, I would have driven the planners to the Chrysler Building and asked “What makes this building so great while other designs are so…forgettable?”
