Anyone watch this movie? I was scared witless over it.
It's derived from a Japanese film called "Ringu." I'd be curious to hear from someone who's seen both. Is the american one exactly like the japanese version? Or is the japanese version much scarier?

I heard the Japanese version is much scarier. So that you know, there is a sequel in Japan and they are making a sequel in the US.

The Ring follows Ringu, almost scene for scene and line for line, for about 40 minutes or so. After that The Ring went off on a completely different plot that really didn't resemble Ringu. The living room scene, even down to each piece of furniture, in the start of the movie was identical in both movies. And no, Ringu wasn't that scary at all, not even close to the Ring.
Ringu is now up to part 4 I believe, and Ring 2 is in the works.

"Ringu" wasn't scary, but it was good. Haven't seen "Ring" yet.

I loved this movie. I really like scary movies and this one didn't end on a dumb note like some of the ones with high expectations do. I hate it when they have to tie up all the potential loose ends in a movie. This one was great.

I think the scary thing about this movie is the freaky repetitive images that seem to stick in your head after the movie is over. I have to say, though, that on the whole the Mothman Prophecies freaked me out a lot more.
