As an older person in Hoboken,(just slightly beyond the 20s-30s age) while there are too many "kid bars", there are civilized places to go in town.
The Brass Rail is one of my long time favorites...and the types that would frequesnt Willies, Black bear, etc tend not to go there. Court St. too.YAY!
And having seen the bouncers at Willies and other places get nasty, some times there isn't a calm, adult method of getting the point across to some drunken rowdy fool.

I hear what you're saying. You should try the Shannon on First street. Nice friendly atmosphere, mixed age groups, and nobody bothers you. Really nice bartenders too!
