i too am about to make a huge move in my life. i bought my house 6 months ago after a 23 yr. marriage (now divorce - he had a girlfriend). i can't live in flemington, nj any longer than i have to (after 23 yrs.!) - and i'm thinking of moving to hoboken! i'm scared shitless! i am unemployed (a licensed clinical social worker), my children are out of the house - i am financially secure... everyone keeps telling me "go --- GO!!!" so, i am doing my home work, and considering a purchase, or renting? don't know. i'd love to know more about hoboken life and how a young-minded, work-worthy, very active, 49, single woman, with a little pug named moxie, and a cat, leo, might fit into the hoboken community. thanks, lisa

Come on down Lisa! I think it is a great place to relocate to. There are tons of people to meet and so many different things to do within a very short distance. You can get involved in different types of activities or groups that fit your interests. I would also definitely buy if you can afford to.

Best of luck in your decision.

Hey Baby, no panic! You just bought a lot of hassle with a house, so why rushing to repeat this? How about renting and checking out this place for some time? After a while you know which area you like, may-be found a job, know the local rules, have a clearer mind after all your trouble now and then you buy what-ever you feel like. Hit the brake, Honey!

Having said this, however, come here fast, 'cause it's really nice, meet the cafe people and their friends and have a good time. Hoboken is NYC without the hassle, and it's just a ten minutes train ride to Manhattan. -- Ben
