I’m hearing speeches, names, events that take me back to my formative years.
While admitting here to voting for Reagan in 1984 holds similarity to not wearing a beard to a taliban meeting, I’m not a bit ashamed to fess up to it. He’s the main reason I have the world view that I do. (that and lots of reading)
And few who can remember what things were like for the nation pre-1981 prolly feel differently. Who remembers stagflation? How about “WIN” buttons? Soviet expansion and the threat of Mutual Assured Destruction? Oh yeah, then there’s the national humiliation at the hands of the Iranians and a country just too weak to do anything about it. Don’t get me started about “malaise.” Thank God those days are over.
Thank God we had someone who had the guts and vision to do something about it.
Not everything he did I agreed with and certainly he made his mistakes. But I think he was right where it counted the most and the world became a better place for it.
I don’t think anyone has measured up since. I just hope that within my lifetime I can again see a REAL president.

I am too young (28) to have a political memory of the Reagan era, but I do remember Nancy Reagan visiting the Drummonds!
