Imagine... A New 10 Acre Park!

Imagine 2 more fields for baseball, softball and soccer... basketball courts, tennis courts, indoor/outdoor playareas, boat launch, indoor recreation for kids and adults, and a swimming pool!

Is it possible? YES!
In a densely populated, urban area like Hoboken, finding places to build new parks can be difficult at best! Luckily, Mayor David Roberts' recent Master Plan process has identified 20 acres of possible/potential parkland. The Mayor and City Council recently approved the completed Master Plan, however the mechanisms have not yet been put into place to protect or acquire these parcels. As you can imagine, pressure is great from many different sides for these parcels to be developed. The Mayor needs to hear from families in town that support his Master Plan and the creation of more parks.

One parcel in particular is in immediate danger of being developed 1600 Park Avenue. This site is listed in the Master Plan as potential Open Space, however was recently purchased by a major luxury condo developer. A residential development at this site would not only remove it from the list of potential parkland forever, but would add more residents to the overcrowded parks.

Is it possible to have a new 10 acre park in Northern Hoboken which could include 2 playing fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, indoor play areas, boat launches and even a swimming pool. Yes! It is possible! Please visit HobokenParks.org to discover what the future can hold for you, your children, their children and your community! For more information on the entire Master Plan including the Open Space Plan, visit www.hobokennj.org/pdf/mplan

Please consider writing to the Mayor and supporting his efforts in implementing the Open Space Plan and making 1600 Park Avenue a park. Or use this form. The Mayor can be reached at 94 Washington Street or by email at Jbuonarota@Hobokennj.org. Copy the newspapers too at Editorial@ HudsonReporter.com and JJLetter@Jjournal.org. Don't forget your phone number for conformation purpose only. Any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at Ivanso@aol.com.
