I just moved here and I was wondering where the hottest hangouts are in the town as well as the favorite restaurants. Washington Streets seems to be where everything is happening, but I see so many surprizing side discoveries also.
So what is the best place to eat in town???

I Like Margarita's on Washington St. Corner of 10th or something on the uptown side. Can't miss it. It is always full. BYOB to keep food cost down and but enjoyment up.

Margherita's is great. I just wish they were biger and had more tables. The Mile square is one of my favorites but it is not cheap (They have really good cocktails there too). If you want Chineese take out try 'Front Page' it rocks.

I agree with these guys. Margarita's is great. Always busy, so you may have to wait a bit, but well worth it. I always have leftovers to take home.

Cafe Michelina - 5th and Bloomfield is another BYOB with good food. Very small restuarant and not as crowded as Margarita's

I also like Margarita's and when you have to wait they give you a pager and you can go have a drink at the very friendly bar next door call the 8th street tavern. Another good sit-down mexican place is Baja on 14th and Washington. This place is also a little small but they have good margharitas and the food is so fresh. They give you huge portions so you really don't need appetizers which keeps the price down.

Our favorites:
Italian/Pizza - Benny Tudino's on Washington between 6th & 7th
Mexican - Burritoville for cheap Mex eats, on Washington around 6th. Baja is more expensive, but it's still moderately priced and a great place with more variety.
Mid-Eastern - Ali Baba's on Washington, I think around 9th and 10th

I have to agree that Benny's and Ali Baba's are quite good and my favorite restaurants in town in their respective categories (pizza and Middle Eastern), but I'd have to give the edge to Qdoba as far as cheap Mexican food over Burritoville. I eat there so much that it's almost scary, yet I never get sick of it. I used to like East L.A.'s, but not since I got food poisoning from them a few months ago. And I've still yet to try Baja, though it's really close to where I live. Here are a few more of my favorites:
Cuban: La Isla (Washington between 1st and 2nd)
Thai: Sri Thai (3rd and Bloomfield)
Malaysian: Satay (1st and Washington)
Italian (non-pizza): Leo's (2nd and Grand) and Michelina's (5th and Bloomfield)
American: Mile Square (Washington between 2nd and 3rd)
Ice Cream: Hobo's (Washington between 6th and 7th)
