O.K. Once again I was able to spend some more time to work on new functionality for the Cafe (yes that was a big chunk of my vacation).
First of all, I apologize to all the people who think I may have blown them off recently, so if I didn't return an email or phone call or just wasn't around, it was because I was busy working and had to tune everything else out as I only had a short time frame to get a lot done.
So, what is new?
Friends!. Take a look at the profiles and you will see a link to invite someone to your friends list.
There is also an avatar upload feature that will allow you to upload a small pic of yourself (or whatever you want to use). This pic will appear in various places next you your name (currently in the friends list, event posting, and event comments).
Event comments. Now you can add comments to each event in order to ask questions, and give input.
Events now show up for the New York Cafe and the Hoboken cafe (as well as a new one soon to be added). Also, Cafe events (official site events where you can meet other members) are clearly marked. Because the site is open for anyone to post an event, this has been a bit confusing to some.
There is also a verified user feature. To be verified, you have to come out to an event. This lets everyone know you are real.
Now the really really cool things. Because of the fact that there are so many people who are single and looking I made some functionality to help facilitate this. I will be setting up another cafe that will be just for singles and this cafe will have some extra features. In particular it will have a hotlist, so as you go out and meet new people, if there is someone you find you really like you can add this person to you hotlist. If that person also ads you to his or her hotlist there will an indicator so you both know.
This is not turned out yet, but I'm hoping to have the new Cafe up this weekend. I'm also coordinating with Lorilei of SOTG to set up a big singles event in the city next month.
There is more stuff, but I'm way to tired now. Bob (rsgour) is working with me on a site redesign, so soon the site will have a better look as well.
