places that repair auto glass

I live near Hoboken High, and a foul ball shattered the window in my hatchback. It is an inherited car that I was just about to sell, and I don't know where to go for good work. Help!

For the work itself if going to the dealer is unaffordable, you can at least get un-dealer price for glass [problem is if dealer fixes with that are not new from dealer, work is not guaranteed but for some types of repairs it doesn't matter]

I assume you mean replace not repair shattered glass...:) What I do is look in the yellow pages under "automobile wrecking" pages 45-46, call listings and ask whether they have -[describe part and car as thoroughly as you can] and pick it up - problem is the newer the car the less likely to find used parts for it, and it's a matter of luck to find the part for some car makes at all

Depending on the car, some stuff is installable on your own

When we had a Ford Festiva [also a hatchback] it was broken into and we got the side window from a junkyard for about $40 I think otherwise would have been $100 if I remember correctly

Good luck

Thanks Daphna, I think I've found a place to fix it nearby. I know it's going to rain soon and I'm in a hurry to fix it. The entire hatchback is gone. Thank you for your suggestions.

Hi.

Go to Pino's Junk Yard and Auto Repair. There is an Auto Glass guy that works independently and is very reasonable. I had the side glass broken on my Ford Probe and he charge me 1/2 of what I had been quoted everywhere else.

Thanks Naomib! I found a palce though, on Jackson between 6th and 7th that gave me a pretty good price. Thank you for your advice. Know any good foreign car mechanics?

Hi Steph!

That was the place I meant. It's on Jackson past the projects. That guy has the best prices. Ok the very best mechanic in Hoboken is Yuri at Dave's Auto. It's on Willow Ave and Observer. I believe it still says NAPA. I've always compared prices and they always charge me like 1/2 of what everybody else charges. They are reliable and consistant and I'm on very good terms with them. Hey say you're Naomi's friend (to Yuri) !!! Let me know how it goes. Their number is 792-9721.

Thanks a lot Naomi! I don't need him now but I'll keep him in mind. I'm just gathering info so I don't freak when I do need repairs.
