Hi, I'm Mike. Since "mike" is already taken (what a common name), I choose "tranceplant" for an alias. It's nothing cheesy, just a name of my Record Label (ah, shameless plug).

Anyway. This is not about me, but the subject of this message : SUSHI!

Those of you who are true Sushi addicts know what I'm talking about. The craving for some fresh raw... I won't gross out the rest... but...

Anyone know of a decent sushi place in Hoboken? The sushi lounge is OK, but I'd visit it more for the atmosphere. They tend to jack up the prices, and I'd rate the fish 6/10.

Tamura has never appealed to me for the past couple of years, since I had (ehem) a bad experience with their food. but....... good news...

I was reluctant to try the Sushi Bar at Precious (the Chinese restaurant off of Washington). You know, because it's a Chinese restaurant with a Sushi Bar all of a sudden - sounds shady, but... I'm happy to report that the quality was outstanding! Excellent price range, good size pieces, and fresh fish! (that's about all that makes up a good sushi experience for me, is it not?)

And since I have shared my review of the Sushi experience, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good Japanese restauran in Hoboken.

Thanks!
Mike

p.s. I've got a Sushi set at home, so if there are any true hardcore sushi lovers out there, I'd love to meet up and actually USE my set. (hot/cold sake included).

Try Komegashi Too at Newport. Pretty nice setting in there. There's another Komegashi (the original one) at Warren and Montgomery (about three blocks up Montgomery St from Exchange Place path station). That one's not as pretty to look at as Komegashi Too, but the pieces are bigger and they're friendlier.

Another place that I've only gone to once but liked a lot was Monster Sushi, I think on 22nd and 7th (nyc).

Kobe on Washington around 3rd Street is pretty good for food, the prices are about average, and the atmosphere is standard Japanese.

Monster Sushi is fantastic, though quite pricey. They're on W. 23rd St. between 6th and 7th in Manhattan. Though I love sushi, I haven't tried any of the places in Hoboken, so I can't make any other recommendations for now. Sorry!
