Hey there-
I just moved here a couple weeks ago and was wondering if someone could tell me where the best place is to grab a drink and just hang out. I'm looking for a place with a relaxed kind of atmosphere- not interested in the "meat market" vibe, you know? By the way, I'm just curious to find out if anyone in the area is from Hawaii or has any Hawaiian connections. Thanks!

Hi,
Welcome to Hoboken! I've also recently move here. I've been living in Hoboken since March this year. Miss Kitty's Salon (1st and Bloomfield) is a nice relaxed hangout. There is a website (www.hobokeni.com) which has a review of the bars in the Hoboken area. Check it out.
Let me know how it goes.
Jim

The Mile Square on Washington street bet 2nd and 3rd is one of my favorites. They have a bar, really good food and amazing cocktails.
Zacks on 3rd street (right across from St Mary's hospital) is another good one.

Zacks is a favorite of ours too! They also have an awesome brunch on the weekends.

It's owned by the same people who own... want to call it Ben & Jerries. On 10th & a few back from Washington.
Similar fare to Zacks. Fave hangover cure for Sunday morning.

Welcome to the Boken, I'm not new (here 6 years) but I can comment on the previous places Zack's is great for brunch as is 3A's 5th and Grand. I like Miss Kitty's I don't go there enough, My usual haunts are Farside (6th and wash), Moran's (5th and Garden), Rogo's (8th and willow) but fridays is crowded due to $1 drinks and shots with a $5 cover. Hobson's is where I go if I do happy hour.

I know of and have been to all the places you've mentioned except Hobson's...and here I thought I knew Hoboken really well. Where is and what kind of place is it?

... and has the dubious honour of being the worst pub in Hoboken (imho).
Advantage of being able to sit outside though....
Go to Swiggies / Mullies if you want a decent pint.
