Great movies under the stars..but..

Hi everyone - Just wanted to get your opinions about when is the best time to show up for those "Movies under the stars."

Last night I got there at 7:30 and put myself down on my blanket. A man and a woman decided to set up their very high backed lawn chairs in front of me, so I got up and politely asked them if they could move over a little, to which they very rudely refused.

I know that it's not going to be possible to see the whole screen, but short of putting myself right under the screen, I can't seem to find a good spot, or hit upon the exact right moment to arrive.

Am I whining yet? :)

Not that this has to do with your post exactly but I felt the need to whine a little myself :) I went to the first movie under the stars and had this idea that it would be a huge screen at the park just like the movies they show in Bryant Park...how mistaken I was when I found out it was in a parking lot with a little screen on a back of a truck...

They are supposed to get a larger screen for next year, and I heard them say that these have gotten more popular as time goes on.

You whine, never ;)I was there last night as well and sat on the right towards the front. Unfortunately, rude people are out there. They must be stopped at all costs!

I recommend that you bring a chair next time (I certainly will be) and arrive 30-minutes before the movie starts.

Good luck and maybe I'll see you there.

I suppose I'll have to invest in a chair. Thing is, I really like my Mickey Mouse blanket. :)

Were you the Andrew/Andy they were asking to come meet "your party" back by the refreshments? ;)

I went once to see the Movies Under the Strs and i found that it was hard to hear the movie due to all the noise coming from people who just couldn't stop talking during the movie. Also, if you don't have a lawn chair and end up going, it can be rather uncomfortable to be sitting on the grass or concrete.

The idea is a good one, but all in all, I decided it wasn't worth it to try again.

Mickey Mouse blanket, huh. I'll refrain from commenting. Well, I can't resist, if we were friends I'd start calling you Linus ;)

I was the Andrew/Andy that was paged. That never happened to me before. I met and hung out with another hobokencafer.

Andy

The idea is great but the execution is lacking....they only use half of the screen. This is extremely annoying because some discs are in the widescreen format (black bars at top and bottom). Furthermore, the cell phones ring and young kids run around while their idiot parents do nothing! (Plus, the kids should not even be allowed to some of the movies.........but that's another story.)

Also, some of the movies suck!

Agreed Josh. I'll never forget the four year old in front of me when they screened Interview with a Vampire. OMG.

Andy, no picking on me about my blanket. It's seen me through some hard times. :)
