Not sure if this has been discussed yet, but while summer is still with us I wanted to hear opinions on beaches.
I guess we are equally close to the jersey shore and long island, so we have lots of options... Where are the best beaches? I've heard Belmar and Sandy Hook are good in jersey, but don't know the first thing about Long Island.
Where do you guys go to get a tan?

I'm a Long Island girl myself...can you believe I've never been to the Jersey shore? Don't most Hobokenites have shares down at the Jersey shore LOL. Anyway my favorite LI beaches are Fire Island and Robert Moses and of course the ever popular Hampton Beaches. Long Beach is good to and much closer then the others - there's a board walk, bars at the beach and it's a really fun town to hang out in the summer.

I am a Long Island girl as well - but have adapted to the Jersey Shore very nicely. I have had a beach house in Long Beach Island for the past few years! Although kinda far - very nice beaches - there are nice beaches North of there in the Spring Lake area (Exit 98 off the parkway). Enjoy!

I like Long Beach Island but it taks a while to get there. Belmar is only an hour south and you can walk to all the bars. I've never been to any LI how long of a ride is it?

Long Island Beaches are definately not very convenient unless you have a car.....also the good beaches/bars are way out so with weekend traffic you are looking at a couple of hours almost each way.
