I am in a poetry workshop [for structure to make myself write again] and besides writing our own stuff and making suggestions after reading classmates' poems, we are assigned a poet every week, to read and create exercises for ourselves from ideas of what we like in that poet's poems
try it

Personal note,
I remember trying to woo a girl I modified a poem. The original poem was a woman describing herself to the world and a magnificent woman. I modified it so that it was a 3rd person (male; primarily me) describing the magnificent woman (the person who I really really wanted to date).

That is so sweet. How did she react?

I got the first date. Then found out she was going out with someone.

Oh, I guess I should put in the filler...
I added a dozen yellow roses to the mix with the poem and signed it anonymous. A week later, I ended up telling the story to the Subway counterperson because the florist the following week asked me the same question on what happen afterwards.
She eventually figured it out in the most embarassing way.
I will leave that out to tell another day.

Geez, write your own damn poetry. Women just like getting an original poem. They don't care (or won't tell you) if it's crap.
