A Performance Night in Jersey City

Art House Productions welcomes

The heart and soul of guitarist
Joe Jacovino
aka Bluesdog

Hosted by NJ poet Christine E. Goodman

PLACE: Victory Hall, 186 Grand Street.
(Five Blocks From the Grove Street Path Station)

TIME: Thursday, June 6th at 8pm.

DETAILS: $3 Admission. Refreshments will be available.

FEATURING:
Joe Jacovino is a singer/songwriter/poet/guitar and harmonica player, as well as a self-proclaimed music junkie. He was born in Jersey City but has since relocated to his own little world.

Joe says:
"I was raised listening to music. My dad was a jazz bass player. He had a bar in West New York that had a Victrola instead of a jukebox. His clientele came up from Jersey City to listen to his jazz and rock n' roll collections. On Sundays he had the whole neighborhood over for dinner in the back room of his bar where they would play Chubby Checker records. My brother and I would dance for the adults, and I would do the twist till I was dizzy.

I used to sing all day long. I don't have a portfolio, but rather this wad of concert ticket stubs that would choke a rhinoceros (a vegetarian like myself). Not until I was 18 did I pick up my first musical instrument, the harmonica. I would play it at the factory I worked at back then, to relieve boredom on the midnight shift, and soon I was playing in some bands. I could never seem to connect with the right bunch that played my kind of stuff for harmonica, so I started messing with the guitar regularly at around age 28. Ah, nirvana. Eventually I started writing some stuff of my own. I'm working on a new CD right now, and as the man says on the Lotto commercials, 'Hey, you never know!'"

OPEN MIC: Follows featured readers. Sign-up sheet will be posted at the beginning of the Performance Night. Each Performer gets five minutes. Monologues, Solo Musicians, Improvisation, Skits and Sketches Welcome.
