I'm definitely interested. I've been to this event before and I had a blast, so I'd definitely wanna do it again. I don't know how good next Monday is for everyone since it's Labor Day and I know that the following Monday night (the 10th), they're having "arena rock karaoke" (the same idea except that the songs will be all Journey, Styx, Chicago, Boston, Foreigner, etc. instead of the usual punk/metal stuff), but every Monday after that in September (the 17th and 24th, respectively), they're resuming the punk/metal karaoke, so a bunch of us should definitely go one night.

I'd Damned well Slits my Stiff Little Fingers and feel like a right Dickies if I missed such a Clash of music. Seems like only yesterday I was riding the U.K.Subs trains when the Stranglers got a Stranglehold on Me! I Buzzcock'ed which attracted a Blndie and Souixsie, so I showed them my Sex Pistols which provoked a White Riot Down In The Tube Station at Midnight. Devo Devo Devo went the Police sirens after someone called Nine Nine Nine.
(So how many references in that lot eh?
I'll be there, keep me informed (but would not want the non punk night on 10th)

And I thought that I was the only one insane enough to wanna go out to this event on Labor Day! I'm definitely up for it also. Anyone else into going? I should let you all know that it starts at 10 and goes on for about 2 1/2 hours usually.
Matt
P.S. When I went a few weeks, I sang the Buzzcocks' "Orgasm Addict". Unfortunately, I wasn't too good. But then again, practice makes perfect, right? I also signed up for Elvis Costello's "Radio Radio". Maybe I'll get to do it this time. I should wear a suit, a skinny tie and my black horn-rimmed glasses for the occasion this time.

Sounds like fun. But if I sing all the windows in a 5 mile radius may break.

Hold on, let me buy some shares in local glazing firms, and I think we're onto a winner.
.
So let's summarise,
This Monday 3rd Sept. at 10pm ...at a place called Arlene Grocery. So where's that and where shall we meet and when?

Arlene Grocery is located at 95 Stanton St. between Ludlow and Orchard Sts. on the Lower East Side. The closest PATH station is Christopher St., but even that's quite a hike, so we can go the 14th St. station and then take the F there (it stops a few blocks away). Either way, I'm sure we can work out the exact logistics later. We should meet at least an hour beforehand by the PATH station or maybe earlier someplace else if we wanna eat or something before that.

OK so then who's in? I think that we should meet at that little newstand by the PATH station at 9 tomorrow night (since it starts at 10). Is this good for everyone else? See my previous posts in this thread for further information about this event.

As far as I know, right now it's only me and elmermaid. I'm pretty easy to spot. I'm 6'2" with short black hair and I'll be wearing my black, oval-shaped horn-rimmed glasses in honor of Elvis Costello (hopefully I'll get to sing "Radio Radio" tonight). If you wanna drive, then I'm totally up for that. The last time that I went a few weeks ago, I drove in also. I would do it myself (yes, I have a car), but I really don't feel like looking for a parking spot after we get back. However, in my opinion, driving there is easier at that time of night since there's virtually no traffic and since the location is so far away from the PATH that it requires either a cab ride, subway ride or a long walk after getting off at Christopher St. or 9th St. Plus, parking is pretty easy to find in that area as well. Please get in contact with me at (732) 718-2369 (my cell phone) if we don't see each other today at Park Pastries (hopefully you'll be there so we can discuss this in person). What I'm thinking is that if you're willing to drive, then maybe you can just pick us up at that newstand near the PATH station at 9 to make things easy. Otherwise, just meet us there and we'll just take the PATH in. The choice is yours. Either way, if I don't here from you today, we'll wait for you for a little while before leaving. Otherwise, we'll see you at the club.

Matt, I'm going to go too. I met you once but it was a while ago. So I'll just meet you at the PATH station at 9.

Guys & Gals,
Thanks for an awesome night out. That was so much fun. Sorry if your eardrums are worse for my White Riot rendition.
I'm going to have to practice Orgasm Addict in front of a mirror for next time! (what a thought)

i never thought karaoke could be that much fun...it was great to see all of these people from all walks of life joining together on a work night of all things to f-ing rock (with a few clash/ buzzcocks/misfits/ ramones songs thrown in for good measure)...everone was great, especially the dee snyder impersonator and the real buzzcock who made a surprise appearance....all are invited next monday. there is no cover and no drink minimum....a good time is guaranteed....bring a costume and be ready to do your best freddy mercury if you will or cheer on your fellow new yawkers (jerseyers) (and a few brits thrown in for good measure).

I must say a f-ing awesome time was had by all Daphna! We should do it again. I think I'd forgotten what it was like to jump up and down in a crowd and scream my head off. Glad to know, I'm not old yet.

I have to concur with everyone. I had an awesome time last night also. I'd totally be up for going again in the future since I'm in the city on Monday nights anyway until 9 for the next few months, so it makes sense to go hang out somewhere fun afterwards.
However, next Monday night it's not the normal punk/metal karaoke, but arena rock karaoke instead. It's the same band plus a keyboard player doing Boston, Journey, Kansas, Styx, Foreigner, Toto, etc. you get the idea. While I'm not a particularly huge fan of those bands (though I admittedly still recall and like some of it from my youth), I still think it would be fun, though, and it's definitely a change of pace from the usual stuff that they do. So what does everyone else think?

I didn't realise the system would remove all the spaces in my artwork.
SO here it is again, with dots instead of spaces, not as clear I know, but hey.
