The New York Nexus Cafe 

Hi, I'm new to the cafe and I really like the positive vibe on the message boards. I'm looking for fellow golfers in Hoboken to play golf with. I really want to improve my game and would like more opportunities to practice (whether at the driving range or at a 9/18 hole course) with at least someone else (or more for a threesome or foursome). A friend from Brooklyn and I have talked about playing a little golf. So were up for it.
Where can one play near Hoboken?
I'd need to hire clubs as mine are in London still.
And neither of us are members of local clubs, so it would have to be a public course I suppose.
What info. do you have?

Hi--I'm not a member of a country club so it's public courses all the way. There's a number of courses somewhat near Hoboken (a car is a must to get there). I think most courses will provide club rentals. There's a great website for NJ golf courses to get some preliminary info: www.teetimeking.com. Ideally, I'd like to play on the weekends before the late fall weather sets in. Are you & your friend available to play a weekend or two this month or next?

I played fairly regularly early in the beginning of the summer but "hurt" my knee on a course in Florida in May. (A header over a sprinkler head-very suave.) Healing nicely and past Monday went to the driving range up in Northvale for some practice. Would be interested in doing the driving range thing again while I continue to recover,but closer to Hoboken-maybe at the Waterways driving range-if it's still open in Weehawken.

If you're interested in getting out there, let me know. Can't this weekend but could next.

I could always use the practice at the driving range. I think the one in Weehawken has since closed, but I go to the one in Edgewater on River Road (next to the Pathmark/Target shopping plaza). I heard of another driving range in Jersey City (on Route 440?), but I haven't tried it yet. I try to go to the driving range at least once a week, so the following weekend shouldn't be a problem.

Now I'm back in town after getting stuck in San Fran. , I'll ask him.

If you and your friend are interested, my friend and I are going to play a round either Saturday or Sunday in NJ at a public course. We haven't decided on which course, but we will probably walk on rather than reserving a tee time. In any event, we could have a foursome; but if you can't then next time.
